CUSTOM BOOK PROJECTS

I help legacy businesses, beloved institutions, and individuals tell their stories.

Have a big anniversary coming up? Is the next generation about to take over? Or are you simply ready to write it all down? Embark on a book project to record history, tell stories, share artifacts (like recipes, songs, and personal mementos), and write down what has been accomplished.

As your personal historian, I can help craft the story, capture photographs/artifacts, and bring the project to life through layout, editing, and production. The result is a priceless heirloom that is truly worth the investment.

Camp Huckins Centennial Book

As YMCA Camp Huckins approaches their 100th year, a beautiful, photo-heavy history book is in the works. This multi-year project involves a lot of moving pieces.

First up: organizing and digitizing the camp’s vast collection of slides, old photographs, and ephemera.

Next? Gathering stories and memories from the women and men who love this place. This is going to be a big one!

Housecraft

This new custom book concept is based on the premise that the best storytelling starts with our surroundings. With my partner, Nicole, we are working with photographers and writers to put the spotlight on the idea of home: what we collect, what matters to us, how we live.

These book projects are perfect for those who have lived a lot of life in one spot -- and for those about to experience change. Whether your parents are about to downsize, or your kids are about to fly the coop, we help capture those memories before they're gone.

Historic Road Race

Founded in 1977, the 4 on the Fourth is a classic road race held each summer in Bridgton, Maine, the heart of Maine’s lake region. Taking runners on a beautiful rolling course with a mix of hills, fields, and lake views, the race raises money to support Bridgton Public Library and other local nonprofit organizations.

As the 50th running of 4 on the Fourth approaches, the current leadership wants to create a book to celebrate the history of the road race. This book will tell the story of this important community pursuit, from its earliest days on Chadbourne Hill, to more recent times involving new race technology, global pandemics, community mural projects and a groundswell of local volunteerism.

Dumpling Daughter Cookbook

Inspired by the Volante Farms cookbook (a Union Park Press custom project), restaurateur and entrepreneur Nadia Liu Spellman wanted to tell her family’s story through memoir and recipes.

Our project team took that idea through editorial, photography, writing, art direction, design, and production. The Dumpling Daughter cookbook is now in its third run and is a wildly successful part of the overall DD brand.

Volante Farms Cookbook

One of my favorite projects to date. This cookbook is a collection of recipes from the beloved farm, but so much more than that. Created to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of Volante Farms, the cookbook also shares four generations of family history that led to the farm’s extraordinary success and longevity, with stories, photographs, and the Volante family’s heirloom recipes.

This was a Union Park Press custom project that gave us the chance to create something very special, with an incredible team.
